Born a “surprise” nearly 20 years after his preceding sibling, on June 20, 1988, Glen and Nancy Gray welcomed Glen D. Gray Jr. into their family’s lineage, and he has since been “the life of the party.” Given the legacy and authority of his father’s name, Glen has ultimately become a reflection of his own moniker, “JR Gray,” establishing himself as one of the most successful entrepreneurs to come out of the West Michigan Lakeshore. A graduate of the class of 2006, like most young men of his upbringing- he found himself an indecisive college student after being accepted to Oakland University, located on the outskirts of Detroit, MI. Innately driven by his passion for success, coupled with his upbringing in the Christian faith- Glen struggled with how to walk an upright and respectable path, yet live out his passion for party promotion and the world of entertainment. Upon leaving Oakland University and finding himself back at home in Muskegon, what started out as a dream one night while working as a cook at the Elks Charity Lodge, has now become his life’s design. Considered a youth among his hometown’s most successful party promoters at the time, after stepping out on faith, his hankering for elaborate entertainment came to life through two events, both of which are now city staples. Most notable are The Annual Black Tie Affair, a formal winter ball complete with food, a recognition ceremony, and live entertainment, and the All White Affair, his own take on the classic summer white party. Destined for greatness, after marketing his own events on social media, Glen quickly garnered both acumen and popularity among his peers for promotion. Out of that, he bore many other ventures, including his most treasured experience as the PR and Social Media Manager for the Late Bishop Nathaniel W. Wells III. Together, they were able to reach millions across the world through his platform within the Church of God in Christ. As faith would have it, Glen’s “Pay your tithes and then pay yourself” mentality has created the vehicle that drives him along the path of success. As a result of his self-promotion, he has been able to establish a lucrative business in graphic design, creating digital masterpieces for his client’s parties, graduations, grand openings, celebrations of life, and more. These interactions have also landed him aside from some of America’s most successful business leaders, catapulting him almost overnight into the world of concert promotion and stage hosting. Since successfully completing his first concert promotion for R&B singer Joe, Glen has since taken part in more than 50 major concerts and events across the country, including over 40 sold-out shows. He’s worked with a plethora of artists and comedians- such as Nephew Tommy, Bill Hill, Michael Blackson, Lavell Crawford, Cedrick The Entertainer, The Commodores, Kool, and the Gang, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant, The Whispers, Juvenile, Too Short, DJ Quik, Warren G, 8Ball & MJG, Trina, Trick Daddy, Scarface, Mike Epps, Earthquake, Sommore, DC Young Fly, Chico Bean, Karlous Miller, Keith Sweat, Stokely formerly of Mint Condition, Cameo, Enchantment, Dazz Band, One Way with Al Hudson, Bow Wow, Pretty Ricky, Souljah Boy, Ashanti, Bobby Valentino, Sammy, Omarion and a host of countless other socialites and celebrities. Officially equipped with both the knowledge and experience to coordinate tours and shows in their entirety, Glen is currently booked for at least two productions per month nationwide. His work has taken him to cities across America, including Atlanta, Oakland, Detroit, Flint, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Youngstown, Cleveland, and beyond. He is phenomenal as a newcomer to the industry, and his best work is still yet to come. Once a paraprofessional working with emotionally, cognitively, and behaviorally impaired students at his alma mater, Muskegon Public Schools, it was during that tenure that he embraced the motto of treating all people with dignity. “Whatever I do, I aspire to be the best in my field and create a legacy for my family and friends. When you hear my name, I want you to think of quality and professionalism. I have a genuine love for people, and whether you’re the CEO or the custodian- I endeavor to treat everyone with respect.” –JR Gray
